    Default Long drive

Hi all I am driving up to north Yorkshire on Saturday to visit my 17 year old nephew who is in the army. They are having a family open day. My sister didn't fancy the long drive from London so I offered to take her. This will be the first long trip in the vec so I hope she goes ok. We are staying in a B&B and coming back on Sunday morning. Should be a good trip and I'm looking forward to seeing my nephew too :-)

The route depends on what you like in a drive the M1 is by far the fastest, but soul less, I personally would shoot up past Charing X hosp, to the westway then, round the A406 to the A1 up past the South Mimms services past Welwyn, Peterborough Grantham, Newark, Doncaster and Ferrybridge, merging with the M1 South of Wetherby and up to the Garrison that way.

There is an "American Diner" an old streamliner like portable building that makes a nice change to a sprawling service station not far North of Newark that makes a nice distraction stop, scenery is miles better traffic is a little lighter.

Thanks for that mate I was thinking of avoiding the m1 for as long as possible so your way sounds much better cheers for that :-)
