Default Head unit / Compatability etc

Vectra 2.0 DTI LS. 2004 so not the facelift. Clock is the small 2 line display.

    Hello,

Planning on replacing the standard head unit (CDR 2005) as its a tad temperamental playing CDs.

I have a JVC KD-R401 that I removed from a previous car that would do the job nicely.

1st question is can this head unit be used with the steering wheel controls? Is there a socket on the head unit I should check for to confirm this?

The 2nd part of this post is that a work mate had a Vectra Facelift (believe it was a 2009) "Full Cambus" which he replaced the Head unit with a fascia adaptor and steering wheel control cables. He removed all these when he sold the vehicle on.

Would his fascia adaptor be compatible with my car?
Assuming my JVC KD-R401 is steering wheel compatible, would his cables work with my car?

    TIA
    SBF

    Hi mate,

I am no expert, however, The facia adapter should be fine, however I am under the impression you will need a different steering wheel control lead.

I am sure one of the electronic guru's will either confirm or correct me.

    Thanks,

What do I need to look for on the head unit to confirm it will accept the steering wheel controls.

    TIA

OK, I have done some digging and it seems that the head unit is not steering wheel compatible so I am going to give this a miss at least for now as this head unit is fine for what I want.

In regards to the fascia adaptor, are all Vectra Cs the same or do I have to be careful not to get one from the facelift model etc?

I stripped the head unit out of my previous car, Vauxhall Astra 2001 (Y Plate), will the ISO and Ariel adaptor by the same?

    TIA
    SBF
