    Default Induction Kit fitted....Problem

Hey all, thought I would try out an open air induction kit on my 2.2 direct. Very simple to fit, rubber fitting onto MAF then filter onto rubber fitting (simples lol). Secured it with a mounting bracket and took car for a spin........

This is where the problem is, there is a constant hissing sound when gentle acceleration, if you give it some welly it sounds like a tank, really really loud roar, nice but loud lol........I dont personally think it sounds right, almost like there wasnt a filter fitted sucking in to much air. Didnt really notice and difference in power but it seemed smoother, no flatspots. No EML etc.
So for now ive but the airbox back in, but is this normal?

The filter is only a £40-50 wolfrace with the vectra rubber adaptor.

Sound like a high pitched squeeling sound? I get that on the 3.2

I've narrowed it down to A) Throttle body needs a quality clean.

Or B) (Which is more likely) One of the hose's isn't completely clamped properly and there is a small gap for the forced air to "whistle" out of it.

Get the same on mine anall just adds to the great sound. I thought it was just the air whistleing over the butterfly

Agreed but my sound is from the engine thru my cone. Can't see a cone making that much a difference in the sound so must be the same thing that is producing the sound.

Got to be better than the straight through 4 inch pipe someone had fitted to the 3 series beemer my wife had some years back. Sounds like Concord on afterburners! First thing that got changed.
