Default i sold a car and am having a problem

this morning i sold a ford fiesta cat d car for the sum of £2330 to 2 liverpool lads, now the car has been with us 5 weeks and my freind drove it all the way back from doncastor to manchester without any problems, this morning they started car and all was fine and they was very happy with it,i also offered them a warranty which they said they dident need,so i thought ok atleast i offered you one, only to get a call from them 30 min ago saying that the engine is knackered and theyve been told its going to cost £800 to fix it.the car was sold as seen and they refused the warranty so where do i stand as im not having them trhreatning me on the phone, its a cat d car and was sold as one,i do not intend on giving a refund as they had car all day and as i say the car was fine at my unit and so why should i take it back in with a 800 problem they say

where do i stand as i think im right in what im saying, once youve bought the car knowing its a cat d repaired and you refused a warranty offered, does that clear me,as i have 2 witness to say car was perfect when at our place

I can't work out the first bit
You sold the car and it is with you for 5 weeks?
Do you mean you had the car and sold it 5 weeks ago?

Assuming you are not a trader, then car is sold as seen
Equally, the buyer has NO protection
I also assume you offered a receipt, with title to the car (description)
There was no need to include details of warranty, unless it was included

If the buyer continues to threaten, then report them to telephone service provider and then Police

Sounds to me like they thrashed the nads off it, blew it and now want their money to get buy another car to do the same to.

    *edit*

Re-reading your OP, it sounds like you are a trader. Had the car 5 weeks and offered a warranty. If so, then is it not bad for your traders licence to sell a cat d? And Even more unfortunately for you, all used cars from a trader are subject to 30 days warranty (it is actually 90 days but after 30 less is covered and after 60 even less is covered)

Did they sign a invoice or a statement saying sold as seen, cat d etc?? This happened to me I purchased a car from a used car garage, when I got home I noticed a headlight bulb had gone. Turned out I had xenons and the ballast and bulb was shot. I called the garage as it had been MOT'ed that morning and it passed. They said you signed paperwork saying sold as seen so not there problem and that it was working for MOT as it passed.
Turned out the MOT centre turned a blind eye to the headlight for a little extra cash, also when I viewed car day before all tyres were fine and for the MOT. After looking over car again all tyres needing replacing, they had changed the wheels. Yes I should of looked over it again when I picked it up but I didnt, Vosa sorted the MOT garage out but trading standards said I had signed saying sold as seen etc and it would be hard to proove they swapped things.....

Sorry for the essay but its quite similar to your problem but in the other shoe lol. I would say with it being cat d and refused warrenty you will be fine.

as you deal in used/damaged cars you will be classed as trade and may be liable not 100 % on this though.
