Default What is meant by 1.8 VVTI? is the vvti engine better or worse?

    As the title says really.
I'm looking at getting a 1.8 Veccy c (Facelift model)
and I've heard this VVTi mentioned in a few adverts... what exactly does it mean?
and is it a better engine than normal 1.8 engines?

ALSO - for any 1.8 veccy C owners, how many mines do you get to a full tank?

    Which is the better engine?
    1.8 normal?
    or 1.8 vvti?

When I say better I mean for MPG and reliability

I've had both, currently got the vvti which seems faster than the non vvti, not had any problems with either, mpg on the vvti can be anything from 24mpg around town, to 40+mpg on long journeys.

VVT is 140bhp where the 1.8 16v is 120bhp. Both seem as reliable as each other although the VVT does appear to give a bit less mpg than the 16v

VVT is really not bad for what it is. The 16v ones tend to be quite underpowered but if you have a heavy foot the vvt will move. I have the vvt and it is certainly faster than a 1.9 120hp diesel. I even gave a 1.9 150hp diesel and run for its money but it did have four adults in to my one. (Lets ignore that bit!)

As others have said the 1.8vvt is ok and likes to be revved hard to get the best out of it. I tend to drive mine quite gently most of the time and get approx 400 miles from a tank although it's an estate so hatch should be slightly more economical.

I have owned both and the VVT is by far the better engine, but as said earlier not quite as good on MPG.
