    Default 3.0 cdti auto or manual???

    I have a 3.0cdti auto at the mo and it jumps in and out of gear at the lights and snatches in to 3rd sometimes (esp when hot) I have been told the valve bodies are worn and will cost £1000 to fix. So I was thinking of doing a quick trade in or eBay it!! But still 50/50 not sure if I should just get it done and keep the car another 2year?? But what gets me is the fuel I do alot of miles and was thinking a manual would be better on juce cos I still want the 3.0 I know I will miss it if I go for a smaller engine. But what I was wondering is how long the clutch and dmf last on the manual cos don't want to trade it in then have to still pay out anoter £1k in a few months to get the clutch done!! I might as well keep mine and get the box sorted?? any advice would b grate

    vauxhall figures for 3.0CDTI V6 manual and automatics (hatch): -
    • manual 40.9mpg (combined)
    • auto 39.8mpg (combined)


    This is very different to the 1.9; 1.9auto is nearly 9mpg thirstier than the 1.9manual!

    The clutch life and DMF all depend on the owner really but should be ok to at least 100k
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Try a fluid and filter change on the transmission before you look at any larger outlay - it's quite surprising the difference nice, clean ATF can make.

    Fully agree with that. ATF fluid does need changing. Has cleaned up many a goosed auto gearboxes that are notchy, jumpy, slipping through gears, jerky etc.
