    Default power steering noise ?

    i have a noise coming from the drivers side when my steering is on full lock. i think it has something to do with the power steering
    can anyone one tell me if the repair is covered on networkQ

    What sort of noise? If it is like a groaning noise, check the fluid level. If it's low, then look for leaks. That will be covered under warranty. If it's a knocking, then it's an outer CV joint which again, should be covered.

    sort of high pitch grind. but doesnt happen all the time

    I've got that same noise m8, I'm still trying to work out what it is.
    I'm thinking CV joint, but I hope not.

    Might just be the pump exhauster you are hearing, or drivebelt slightly slipping.

    Its an electro-hydrualic system so there is no power steering drive belt to slip..

    Check the fluid level, it may be running short of fluid.. Either that or if it starts to grind all the time expect Pump trouble and a sizeable bill..

    Get the fluid checked for level and colour and above all try no to hold the steering on full lock for more than a few seconds as that really abuses the pump..

    Does anyone know whereabouts the PAS reservoir tank is - anyone got any photos to show us please?

    On the GSi it is located beneath the drivers side headlight assembly..not the easiest to get to..

    whiteish canister with a black cap..

    May actually be easier to remove the bumper to access the reservoir.


    Other cars like my old man's 19cdti and C's old 2.2 had the reservoir located on the top of the rack, middle of the engine bulkhead..much easier to get at..

    Strange, mines a 2.0dti and the pumps under the headlight too

    prob because if they put it on the rack at the back of the bay it would only be a few inches off the turbo, so the plastic reservoir might get a little hot..

    thats the reason they relocated it on the V6..it's too tight to the back exhaust manifold..

    the 2.2 Petrol has more airspace around it to keep the reservoir cool and the turbo on the cdti 1.9 is on the front of the engine.
