    Default V6 CDTi

When did this engine cease being sold in the UK was it at the demise of the Vectra itself or was it in 2008?

I am becoming quite curious in this car,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

It was launched in the Vectra C in 2004 and ended at the end of the Vectra C

The first engine was the Y30DT (2004 and 2005)
The second engine was the Z30DT (2006 onwards)

There is very little difference between them, as it is an old Isuzu design from 1998
The Y30DT has slightly less power, estates are fitted with DPF
The Z30DT has slightly more power, but all vehicles are fitted with DPF

It is for this reason I sought out a late 2005 without the DPF at the end of 2006

The Y30DT performance is similar to that of the old Vectra B GSi, but with 30mpg as against 20mpg, hence why I chose it

Sales were poor, especially for company cars due to the high tax band
Retail customers were put off by little benefit for extra money, resulting in most people choosing either the petrol or 1.9 CDTI instead
However, used prices have been maintained, the 3.0 V6 CDTI can add as much as 20% to the value of an almost identical car with one of the other engines
This is partially due to these rarely appearing on the used market, rarely being reported as faulty, and their low numbers

I am possibly moving jobs and the ultra economy of the 1.9 might be able to slide a little. Sadly though it would need to be a Vectra as I never got to grips with the hind end of the Signum, and it would be preferred in manual SRi spec or SRi with leather trim XP kit and CD70.

Dilemma is that I adore the car I am in right now and it is under a warranty till October 2012 has a new DMF fitted, brakes all round, calipers on rear, so it is a very sound investment for what it owes me. I may be dreaming a little right now but I saw one at close quarters the other day and it was an appealing proposition, and money I don't need to spend either in a way,,,,,,,,,,

Unless yo're after the sound of the V6 mate have you considered simply getting yours remapped? You'll get the same power and torque, if not a little more, and possibly even better fuel consumption whilst keeping the same car...

plus derek you have modded this one with the CCV so it would be a good mod to remap it. Plus you could get rid of the EGR valve too. **cough****cough**

It is the sound that was the appeal after listening to Celes one on 2-stroke and a couple of others on hughchoob

Have another look at the Signum mate, specifically my one... Lot of car for the money and you've got a history going back almost 2 years on here since I bought it....

Got to be worth a test drive at least...

I had spotted one that "might be coming up for sale" a panacotta SRi V6 with leather CD70 XP2 kit a 2008 with 18K on the clock but the owner will want about £11K so I am told and I was bid £6K for mine so I am well inside Insignia money for this car but it was truly stunning to look at with 18" XP2 alloys as well,,,,,

My wife tells me I can't have it as it is only 5 months younger than my own car

For a 2008 at 18K miles remember the warranty is about or may already have expire
Therefore personally I wouldn't pay more than £8000 (excellent trade in plus 10%)

I bought mine at 15 months old, 10K miles, and from a VX dealership at £10500 (window price £10800)
Use that as a guideline when comparing price
A private sale could probably have been about £9500

However I added the VX Complete Protection Plan, so the discount was a false reduction

I didn't just buy it for the V6 sound, but it drives out of the box as intended with no remapping
In general V6 engines also more reliable
Downside less fuel efficient, higher insurance, and higher running costs
