The BTCC was much better when it was Cavaliers, Mondeos, Primeras and all the rest. Now it's just a max power race series. A real shame.

I've got a video of the last season Cleland raced, That and the year he won the championship in a cavalier were the best IMO.

I used to like the DTM series until it unofficially 'died' (i.e. no Vectras)

Bring back the old BTCC as it was i say. The old Cav's, Volvo estate's etc were the best days. The safety aspect has kicked in as it has with F1 and spoiled a damn good race series.

I think manufacturers also liked the 90's period. With cars restricted on areodynamic aids, they appeared almost 'showroom' in appearance and they worked on the theory that 'a win on sunday = sales on monday'. There was almost a full grid of manufacturers which proved its popularity.

I blame alfa for the downturn as they pushed the rules by introducing the Alfa 155 with the 'optional' rear spoiler that was packed away in the boot to get around homoglamation rules. The following year all the cars sported carbon fibre front skirts and ridiculous rear spoilers. All went downhill from there imo.

Got to agree, get the BTCC back to how it was in the days of the Cavaliers, etc.
I think the best season was '95' the last of the Cavalier
