Default Looking for a 'Live till locked' wire

I will tell you my plans.
I am buying some Headrest screens and I will obviousle need to wire them up to the car. I am going to run a feed from the main battery lead in the boot via a relay and I want it to be constant till I lock the car.
    Reasons:
I am wireing it direct to the main feed as to hope to keep it on while cranking, if not I will have to go down a large Capacitor or seperate small battery. I now it is picky but I don't want to have the DVD stop or reset everytime I restart the car as somtimes we start and stop quite alot.
I want it opn till locked so if I turn off the car they will still play for the same reason as above.

    I hope I made sence.

I see what you mean. If people are watching a film it is really annoying if they reset when you go for petrol or something. Trouble is, they might still reset if they are wired straight to the battery, I would check whether they do first before going to a load of effort to wire them up to the locking.

The only thing I can think of is the flashing alarm led. It may be possilble to get that to hold a relay off when the alarm is set??? Do it through a transisitor and then maybe a capacitor to hold the relay on??? I don't know. Maybe someone else will know!

Thanks for that. I will check but even if it does not stop it resetting I will wire a small 12v battery, 2ah or something like that and power the screens of that , then use a diode to stop it drawing power from that battery when cranking but will still pull power for the screens. will be looking for some trigger wires in a day or so but quite hard on my own, the missis will not help me because she is ****ed with me spending loads of money on the car as It is.

Well. 2 hours later and still no Locked till live wire, For now it is wired to the Ignition. I am, however now going down the, on for 15mins after ign off, route. I am thinking maybe a rear heated screen relay as some cars go off after 10 minutes or somthing like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT. Any other ideas would be cool.

OK... been looking at TIS for this...

If you remove the alarm switch there will be a six pin plug.

Pin 1 = Intrusion Sensor Armed Signal
Pin 6 = Intrusion Sensor Alarm On Signal

    Pin 5 = Ground

Try connecting a meter to either of these to see what's available on the pins when the alarm is armed.

According to TIS the pins read from left to right.

Had a look at the alarm switch and there is indeed a 10v live when ignition key removed but the current is not Strong enough to trigger my relay. Thinking maybe door panel off and finding window power. I have pulled off the passenger door loom (between door and pillar) but no live, alittle confused but panel off tomorrow if I get time and no one can give me a better idea. Another idea I had was the interior lights, if left on, goes off after 10 mins so If I wire to that do you think it will work?

    hey mate,

how good is your electronics? you could use a 555 timer to create a delay quite easily. i.e. when the ignition goes off it stays on for 10 mins or however long you want and if ignition not back on after that turns off. this is a simple circuit and very cheap parts, made a similar circuit in my old car to turn off lights after 2 mins of engine off (in case i forgot).
