    Default Swirl Removal

    Hi,

I got my Signum a few months ago, and the previous owner must of liked the car wash. Its covered in swirl marks, and I was wondering how I could remove them. What hardware do I need and which polish do I get.

    All advice greatly appreciated.

    Aaron

It can be done by hand as I did but takes hours of hard graft, if you get your hands on a DA (safer than a rotary for a beginner) then a product like Blackfire finishing polish I use is a 3000grit cutting polish so will cut and degrade to leave a mirror finish, but there are dozens of excellent cutting polishes to do the job.

Good luck it is a very worthwhile process when finished.

Also consider Autoglym Super Resin Polish (AG SRP). Although it won't remove the swirls it will fill and mask them, topped with a coat of AG EGP you're car will have the appearance of being corrected. The product is also very easy to work by hand. Working a cutting compound by hand on a black car will almost certainly leave behind marring on the paint and you may make it look worse.
