    Hi mate,

No not necessarily, I've just moved out of a studio flat as I'm in the process of buying a house (complicated situation) but before moving out I was paying by direct debit...I called them to tell them I was moving and as a result I cancelled it. Chances are the previous owners have done it or just changed the address where the licenses is valid....

    Hope that helps mate,

    cheers,

    James

I noticed a similar payment pattern when paying monthly, so cancelled the plan (the monthly plan basically puts 6 months paid in advance by the end of the first year)
I now pay quarterly and the amounts were correct (the quarterly plan is paid 3 month in advance)

TV licencing DD works by charging 6 months in advance and 6 months in arrears, so a NEW tv licence account needs to pay double for the first 6 months (to cover the first year in 6m). So in 6 months time you will have paid this years licence in full, and start paying the advance payment of next years licence. Once you get to this point it'll work itself out and future monthly payments will be "annual fee"/12. If/When you move in the future all you do is update the address, so you can carry on with the normal monthly payments.

Yes, so if your licence runs from 1st July to 30th June, for example, your DD to pay for it will run from 1st Jan to 31st Dec.
Not sure it makes more sense putting it that way, but thought I would try anyway.
