    Default vectra 06 1.9 150bhp (intake manifold)

Hi guys i recently had the problem mentioned about swirl flaps and rod falling off.
So i managed to change my inlet manifold with a new modified version from ebay.
Everything built back up and seems ok apart from my car seems less powerfull.
The car now seems quite slow until 2000 revs.
One 2000 revs is reached it goes well.
My question is do i need some kind of software upgrade on my ecu for the modified ilet manifold.
I noticed that with the old manifold where the egr bolts on the opening is a big opening.
Now with the new manifold the opening seems to be only half the size.

    Did you replace the EGR?
Did you replace the Swirl flap actuator?

Replacing the inlet manifold is one of the biggest jobs on the car and you didnt replace the actuator? Sounds like half a job because when the actuator goes you are going to have to strip it all out again. Bit like changing the cambelt and leaving the old water pump on. Are you sure you have the right Manifold due to the hole being smaller, sounds like you haven't. Sometimes Ebay is not the best place for parts as it can turn out to be a copy or inferior to the OEM part. VX have uprated the replacement so I would have sourced an OEM one.

The hole for the egr is semi blanked but egr fits perfectly(maybe thats why its a modified version)
When you say actuator if u mean motor then no i didnt change the motor that turns the flaps.
I think you will find that most people who change there inlet have reported the motor to be fine.
The fault code brings up that actuator isnt working but this is misleading as if your swirl flaps stick then the motor cant turn with out pushing the link rod off.
Simple if the swirl flaps move whilst starting engine then motor didnt need changing.
Also the new inlet manifold was from a good source on ebay with a matching upgraded part number.
The source i used from ebay vauxhall have been known to use the same source for some parts.

Then why is the EGR valve hole smaller? Something sounds wrong.

TBH not replacing the actuator is not a good idea, like I said about the Water Pump and Cambelt senario. As you rightly say the fault code shows the actuator isnt working which it is isn't because the the valves have jammed. Surely this would then tell you that that the actuator would suffer damage as it is unable to turn. Thats not really going to do it any good is it? And will lead to premature failture or not working correctly. Have you checked the 3rd injector wiring as this is a known fault and could cause you issues

There is no need for any software updates when you change the inlet manifold

The other thing i did notice was the egr surface that bolts to the manifold is very pitted and worn.
I tried to lightly sand it but it is very pitted.
I know that we have a gasket in between but ime thinking maybe this could cause me a problem.

It can lead to all sorts of issues from cutting out to very poor running at low speed. Its one of those things that should be done regardless if there is a problem or not. Makes sure it can be ruled out in the future if problems arise. It is supprising how a bit of wiring can cause all manner of issues.
Should have really been a recall and if it had of done it would have saved a lot of people £'s as a lot of garages are unaware of the fault and change all manner of things to try and solve the issue.

the fact could be that the wiring has been disturbed when you changed the inlet manifold but anyways it should be done regardless of wether it solves you issue or not.
