if you read the book its got to be 0/30 fully synfitic long life . because the sevice interverals are every 30k . but you wont like the price to change the oil will cost about £50 . but its worth it. mine does 50 mpg. if you use 5/30 long life it cost the same but you will need to change it every 10-15k . look at eurocar parts and type in your reg and it will tell you which oil for your car

5w30 is for 30k/2years intervals, 10w40 is for 20k/1year intervals. On our DTi I change the oil once a year at around 10-12k. Been on 5w30 GM until now, now I used 10w40 and the engine is much quieter

i have just looked it up and he has the same engine as mine and mine uses 0/30 long life or 5/30 long life so the book says and garages and eurocars parts . the engine will be quieter the thicker oil you put in it but it does'nt do it much good

it will do it no harm what so ever & will be better for it if the mileage is high, it won't weep past the seals like a thinner oil will.

Have to agree - on a higher mileage engine better to have a thicker oil to compensate for piston ring and bearing wear - fully synthetic is too thin - bit of advertising hype to get you to buy more expensive oils. Vauxhall recomend it because of their extended service periods - but who wants to leave it 2 years between services - I go for semi synthetic in my 04 1.9 cdti and change it every 6 months - no problems
