Default Passenger side wiper has given up

    Hi guys,
Got an 04 reg vectra, and since purchase 16 months ago I did notice my front wipers weren't working 100%, everytime i went over 35mph it would clonk on return, and there was a little play in them, but they worked well enough so i didnt bother much about it. Then today the passenger side one decided to stop working altogether, the one on my side still working fine. When i went to take i look, i could actually move the wiper arm freely so its like it has disconnected itself somewhere.

Now im sure ive heard there is a known issue with the linkage on these cars so im pretty sure thats the issue. how much am i looking at? if i take it to vauxhall, how much do you think they will rob me? or would it be cheaper just to take it to a local garage.

    Thanks for your advice

Think its about £80 for a linkage. I had same happen and i fitted 2 tie wraps to mine as a temp measure. That was about 3 or 4 years ago and its still working fine so would buy you some time maybe.

ahhh, tie wraps huh? sounds cheap enough to me Ill get some cable ties and give erm a try, they dont cost anything so no harm in trying, that ebay link is the next cheapest idea so I may purchase a set of those also.

You guys are amazing, i mean that.

Just went over to the local shop and bought some cable ties. get back tot he car, took off the rubber seal, managed to lift up enough of the plastic cover to see the linkage, one of the arms had come off.

Grabbed the arm and pulled it upwards (it come off from underneath) until it clicked back in, use 2 cable ties right at the end just before the connection to hold that on and well...

its even BETTER than it was before it failed, no more clonking, no more serious play.

and best of all, i payed 1.49 for a bag of cable ties so the money i just saved

I got MOT in 3 weeks so hope it holds but if yours Graeme has lasted 3 years I got nothing to worry about.

Cheers again guys, you wonderful people you

I agree, if you can wait then get the bushes and bars, replacing the worn ones
However, the other two won't be far behind

I was unable to wait, the entire assembly had worn out
