Default Weird noise and a lack of grunt

Well, what can I say. My lucj with cars is rapidly diminishing.

4th car from same place and still problems (I sold a previous Sig cos it went Pete Tong on me) the other 2 cars were ok but not for me... lol

So I have this noise. Seems to kick in around 2000 revs, sounds like a high pitched whine from god-knows-where - I reckon its the A/C pump clutch that's fritzed or a bearing for ancillary devices.....

Curiously, about the same time, the car seemed to be more "gruff" - its a 3 litre diesel- and also a little lumpy at idle....

I checked that out by just getting the revs up to 1500 and it goes ever so lumpy then - you can really feel it, so I am guessing that it's misfiring or worse... running on 5 cylinders most of the time.

Odd thing is there's not a lot of **** out the back, but there's a fairly big lack of power, you have to rev it a good deal more to shift it....

Any ideas, most welcomed, before it goes in to be broken at Perrys (Barnsley) whilst I get a crapola CORSA to blat in (not likely I would rather have a company mini, despite being plastered with the company logo!)

If it was not running on 6 i'd expect to see the unburnt diesel coming out the back as a whiteish smoke..

it's going to have to go back as it could be so many things..injectors, head gaskets, turbo's and hose's..

i just hope it's got a warranty as the Isuzu lump is never cheap for bits..

Oh yes, it's under warranty. Thank god. But I can't put myself to trust the spanner monkeys at Perry's as they seem to screw up any car I have - I daren't let them change a ruddy light bulb!!!

I think to be honest it's probably a dodgy injector (or ignition related gubbins)

The turbo is ok, still whistles quietly (as it should) - but there was a problem there, I was booting it up a hill and you could hear the turbo, as per, but it would then tail off with the power (as if the turbo wasn't there) and then all of a sudden come back on (so you'd hear whistle twice rather than constantly) - but this has been cured.

I would have also thought that I'd see a load of guff out the back when "giving it a bit" - there is a little bit of smoke but I wondered wether this was normal.

I hope that the head ain't fried (tho it isn't losing coolant or anything) as that's what caused me to get rid of my lovely Omega Elite (all Irmsher'ed)

I might just bite the bullet and say ta-ta to Vauxhall because my motoring experiences thus far have been very negative. Even my Ren-No's were better!

I would never have another ren-no in the family again..i'm weaning them all out of them..

Clio RSi. 1999 model.wipers failed..coil pack failures..eats disc's but not the pads..electric window gear failure 3 times!! both rear wheel cylinders cracked as they are alloy and not up to the service pressure.

Megane 19DCi.2003 model .door strike plate fell off!!, turbo blew at 18,000 miles and ren-no didn't want to know.. EGR valve failured twice now..car is only 40,000 miles old!

Laguna RT..1997 model..prob the best of the bunch, only had coil pack failures and a broken drivers seat..

This is after a long line of frauds that weren't much better..

now they are all moving over to VX, as even with Mrs GSI's vectra, the VX's in our family all seem to be more reliable cars..

Take the Siggy to another dealer if you don't trust perry's..the isuzu lump is a strong engine, it will prob be something minor..possibly even the boost sensor, from what you've written in your last post..

it took me a while to find a good dealer..at least the VX one's will talk to you, the ren-no one's just want the easy corporate work from my experience..

I don't think we got many stealers round here who aren't Perry's. I think there's Vardy's and maybe D.C. Crook but I dunno what else round here.....

I might have to have a looksie round Sheffield or Wakefield way as I really am peed off with them at the moment. The swines don't even give me a decent courtesy car (I mean, come on, a CORSA... I am a representative to a Government project ffs!!!!)

just remind them that you are entitled to a car of a similar size and you can reject the corsa if it isn't suitable..

i spat the dummy out and got from an agila.. .. to a vectra .. in one phonecall..

I almost had the servicing manager by the cojones with the last signum - they reckoned there was a fault code nobody had heard of (it was the old spanneroonie) turned out to be a dodgy sensor on the cat pipe (fitted duffers at the factory so it seemed)

It took me going into the office before a fax majically appeared from Luton with the problem on it!!!

And I was offered a corsa the first time, then the servicing manager decided that I should be given "something nicer" - fat chance - I still got the corsa!

Oh bu99er.... it DOES blow out a whitish spume - though it's not that great.

i should have realised this when I got the car, as a quick blat down the motorway at reasonable speed showed a "vapour trail" behind me.... though it was that sort of thing where it could have been the road surface throwing up dust (as it was very hot and dry in the summertime)

But today the sun was behind me enough so that I clogged it and there it was, a faint plume of silver grey......... (and it's very faint)

I just put that down to the fact that some diesels don't like being booted...meh.

I Have the same problem. What tuning box do you have on it? Mine is going in today to VXL about another problem (Engine mounts) so I'll get them to look at the lumpyness
