    Default New Tuning Boxes

Been having a snoop around to see what is out there at the moment. There are new generation Tuning Boxes coming out (CR3 etc etc.) in the future and some that we have been told about on here by Mike of Diagnostix.

Not wishing to start a debate on who's is best or my cars got more power blah, blah, blah, i have just found thisLINKY

They seem to be the new version that also fits to the injector plugs as well as the common rail.

The best bit about this company is they cover brand new engine AND transmissions for 1 year and older ones (upto 45K miles) are covered up to 85K miles

I have not heard of them and the price is £335 for the 1.9CDTi but if it comes with a warranty like that it can't be bad.

Offering a guaranteed minimum increase of 0 BHP, although we would expect the increase in power to be in the region of 5 BHP. Additionally you have the facility to adjust the system to provide an extra 7BHP. As a safety feature you are able to adjust the power output back to factory settings should your vehicle be driven by a less experienced driver, whilst leaving the unit in place.

Great. £335 for 5 bhp. Mind you, it's a comfort to know I could restore it to 'factory' in case my mum wanted to borrow my car. I dont think she could handle all that extra power.

If you read the listings of the models carefully Andrew, you will see that only models they have boxes for and have tested have power figures. The ones such as the 3.0 CDTi have NONE in the PSI model box, therefore i read that as there being no box available hence the 0+ increase in BHP.
For example, the 2.0 DTi has an increase of 22 BHP. If you add that to the extra possible 15 bhp available (in ideal conditions?) that takes it to 137 BHP. A big increase over the 100BHP as standard.

I like the warranty side of it along with the setting on the box to allow the car to be put back to standard without removing the box for less experienced drivers...or the wife

You thinking about one of these for yours??
Don't know yet m8, could be a remap but i like the warranty side of this one.

EDIT: I've just come off the phone with a very helpful guy there and he is going to send me some more info as they had a big write up in the Telegraph motoring section this week and business has gone through the roof. As soon as i have more info i'll post it up.

I was correct about the 0+ BHP too, they are updating the website with more models covered.

"Engine warranty - New vehicles 1 year on engine and transmission.
Used with max mileage of 45k - warranty up to 85k miles. "

Wonder what that would actually cover? What happens if the fuel pump went, would it cover that?

Ah, didn't notice the 'none' bit, was too busy looking for a power increase!

Still, to avoid confusion, perhaps if people don't actually make a device for certain engines, perhaps it would be an idea not to list it, or put a rather big TBA. Putting an increase of 0-5 bhp would probably turn most people straight away.

When you go into the link for my engine, it even shows a tuning box at the top. I see now how it's probably a generic one, but even so, it still adds to the confusion.

D-UK use to guarantee power increases on the CR2 but it didn't live up to them so now they only do so with the CR1 and it's the same, 185bhp.

This box doesn't work in the same way as the norm, it won't increase the fuel pressure but still puts in more fuel so it should be much kinder on the system.
