    Default 20k revs then kicking in to 30k

    hi all,

    sorry for teh poor title, aint got a clue what to name it
    got a 2.0dti 54plate vec, it seems on the first time start, when in 2nd gear getting to about 20k rev then feels like it gets unstuck then goes to 30k if you know what i mean?
    it feels like something kicking in, happens once maybe twice but always from a cold start.
    maybe its just a first start thing?
    i had a split in the intercooler pipe but ive replaced it, tried to take off egr valve but couldnt get it out (undone the 2 bolts and removed the pipes) it was if its welded on.

    Wish my dti revved that high

    Guessing you mean 2-3k Sounds like a sticking egr to me anyway, it may feel like it's stuck but a few gentle taps (onto the metal) should break it free

    I'm getting something similar on our 2.2DTi. I was told it's a faulty crankshaft sensor.
    It only happens when the engine is cold though...never hot.

    Haha.... But why does it say x100 and the rev dial shows 10, 20 etc... Confused lol
    I was gonna use a rubber mallett to try and loosen it but was afraid incase I broke it. There's no black smoke, not idlin any different to any other car.
