anyone have warranty with Parkers ? i have just recieved an online quote for £249 to cover my 150 with 40000 for 1 year.

This is there top of the range warranty with wear and tear included, my network q runs out 13.5.11. although had my intake manifold and swirl valve actuator done 5 days ago just in time

Check the policy terms and conditions
Adding wear and tear usually means they pay a proportion for failed components, not the full amount, based on that wear and tear; a slightly misleading term
However, at least they pay for it

So for example if the clutch is examined and found to be 30% worn, then they pay 70% and you pay 30%
Equally, some companies calculate it solely on the current vehicle mileage (as at the date of the claim) irrespective of the age of that failed component
So for example if they pay 40% at 60K miles, then no matter what condition the clutch is in, if it failed you pay 60%

thanks for that i will look deeper , all i know at the moment is if the car is less than 6 years old they will pay 100% , 7 years 90% and so on.

also been looking at the AA and waranties direct , its a mine field, very confusing

they stage it in miles, but warranty direct always pay 100% labour charge, its just a % of the parts based on mileage, worse case scenario with warranty direct is over 100000 miles a 50/50 split on parts cost, with them still paying 100% labour

Wear and tear cover is a two edged sword
If the part fails then the warranty company can say "tough it's worn out"
With this cover it is included
However, that is the whole point of a warranty, the part is worn out so should be covered

The majority of components wear out and need replacing, so wear and tear should be more specific to parts that really do wear out!
As an example, my previous AA policy paid out on a worn out shock absorber, broken spring, and worn out windscreen wiper linkage
The term worn out is quite obvious, covered by warranty but could be excluded as wear and tear (like brake pad material)

Put your money into a savings account every month. If nothing goes wrong, you win. Over 20 or 30 years motoring you will be quids in, I guarentee!!!

If I had done that, I would be out of pocket by at least £150 per year
Every warranty I have had has more than paid for itself
