Default To drop or not to drop??????

    Hi Folkes,

Having done a repair on my front suspension today i have decided it time to replace all my springs,
BUT it seems cheaper to buy a full set of loweing springs than to buy standard one?

Im unsure if i want to lower my motor as i use it for fishing, where i carry alot of weight in the rear and sometimes have to drive down dirt tracks,
would you recomend keeping it at standard hight? or has anyone else lowered their car and still carry weight??

    Cheers

Your going to get a mix bag of opinions asking that question on here.

Me id keep it standard as lowering it over rough ground is not nice when it bottoms out or rips something off.

    Ideally you want a landy.

    Which model is it?

I had 9 bags of of 60L compost in my GSI the other day which is 45mm lower than standard, drove fine, but if I was going down dirt tracks I would have taken it slow.

Iv'e got the very same dilemma bud,my car is lowered by 30mm all round on PI springs,i use it for fishing and they are a great motor for carrying your tackle,i also have to drive on dirt tracks and after 3 years of doing so,it's been no problem at all,but i will stress that mines a LS originally and i have the softer rubber type black valance and if i do scrape it it just springs back, all in all a great fishing car,i would say lower her but don't go daft on the amount you lower it by...cheers

my last Vec C preface i had lowered -30mm it looked great & handled like a dream... it was not practical for work mind as i'm on & off construction sites daily.
My current facelift elite is not lowered although i would like to put sri -15mm springs on & hopefully this will be a compromise.

Given what you use the car for Id say keep it standard. Ive got a GSi with a -30mm kit and an SRi estate thats standard ride height for general duties and taking the dogs out. I had the same dilemma as the springs on the SRi now need replaced but am opting against the lowering kit (despite it being the cheaper option) as for where the estate goes its just not practical.
