    confused 1.8 SRI 05 Economy

Hi all- ive got a 05 plate 1.8 sri 5 door as the title suggests.

My issue is the fuel economy. My average around town is 34.8 at best and 32.8 at worst. With numerous trips on the motorway or just motorway After a reset - i get 35.3 at best. I know its a heavy car but .5 more fuel economy on urban routes?

I have deristicted the airbox and put a better panel filter on but there is no difference (i did take of the battery for a reset as "its suppose to recalculate a new filter is in it And compensate").

Can it be remapped? Who by and how much? Anything else i can try? Do? Its been serviced and i like the car and amnot getting rid of it.

mines to 38.5 doing a 60 mile round trip every day. Additives seem to have improved it.

I would have thought so too. Im getting a combined 39mpg with the lesser powered 16v, so on a motorway run I have no reason not to expect to be getting around 45mpg. Are you taking the reading off the computer or you doing the calculations the old fashioned way?

When was it serviced and what oil was used? Are the tyre pressures all correct?

Is your boot full of junk? empty it.

Set tyre pressures to correct settings.

Only fill your tank to half full as the extra weight is not required and uses more fuel.

Sensible driving and no last minute braking.

Your mpg is ok doing the above may increase it slightly.
