What do i need for private plate

Hi peeps

What do i need to take to the local DVLA office to have my private plate put on?

I have the V705 or whatever
V5
Tax disc
New plates made up
anything else i need to take with me?

MoT certificate so they can issue a new one with the new Reg on it. You don't need the new plates with you either...

copy of your insurance to show that the vehicle is insured

If they ask about you already having plates say NO! My friend seems to think he got a fine for admitting he already has his plates made up. Sound dubious but ya never know.

If he has the V5 which you need to show when getting plates made up these days how would you get a fine? I got some made up just using the retention certificate

Well this is what i thought. Mine got made up from the firm i bought the plate from. Hes probably talking chedder but just thought i would pass it on just incase.

Ok so i need:
MOT Certificate
Tax Disc
V705
Insurance certificate
and plates, as i will be afixin em as soon as i get out the door!

that everything then chaps?

Don't need insurance cert, all I needed to take was retention cert, log book and a photocopy of tax disc plus MOT cert if your car is over 3yrs old

They then sent log book off and issued a new tax disc and gave me a certificate to get plates made up
