    Default Spell Checker

Well, after typing a reply in another thread i decided to run the spell checker, downloaded & installed the iespell, did the spell check & absolutely everything i just spent ages typing has totally disappeared & i cannot go back a page & get it back, coz the back button is greyed out!

Whats the point of having a spell checker if all it does is delete everything youve typed, or is there a secret setting which reads what youve typed & if it doesnt like what it reads it removes it?

Use Google Chrome as your web browser as it has a built in spell checker.

Never had a problem with the spell checker myself.. Might be worth submitting a bug report if you're sure it's the software http://www.iespell.com/fmail.php?f=bugz

But as said Chrome has a spell checker built in that works like the one in Word where it puts a red line beneath the misspelt word(s)

i used to use Chrome, a really good browser, but as i use a work laptop, IT get a bit hot under the collar when you install stuff you shouldnt, which is pretty silly really IMHO, maybe i will use the portable version, available from the portableapps site, cheers for the advice

Moved to General Chat as it's a problem with a browser plug-in you've installed, not a forum problem.

as it is a spell checker that this forum links to (iespell) i would class this as a forum problem, as it was the downloading of this facility, as directed by this forum, which caused the problem in the 1st place. had i not been directed to download the add-on (which i did, thinking it was safe to use) by this forum, i would not have had the problem.

Eh? Where does it link to it? Are you sure it's not the browser that is linking to the spellchecker?, or something else within the browser?

D, There's a link built into VB, if you look in the editor it's the tick with ABC above it.. I've used it for a few years now and had no issues at all in IE7, IE8 and now IE9..

Ah, I see. I don't use IE so don't see that icon. I use Firefox with it's built-in spellcheck and a plug-in English dictionary.

@kentish_bloke - Even given that, ultimately the spell-check is a third-party item and nothing to do directly with the vB software, so out of my control to even look into the matter.

All I can suggest is you select and copy your post before you spellcheck it.
