    Default Battery light came on

Hi all, drove down from brum to high wycombe this morning, all went well. Started the car again and now the battery light wont go out? Could this be a faulty alternator? My car is a 56 plate Signum CDTI 150. Can feel my wallet getting lighter already.

Yes it's most likely it is. Dont worry about the cost too much though as your saving loads bt driving a diesel
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Could be your alternator or your battery - take it you have checked the auxillary drivebelt a. to make sure its still there and b. it is tensioned properly.
I would take it to a tyre/exhaust place and get alternator/battery check -usually free - and go from there.
If you look at other posts the setup with the battery and alternator is sensitive on this model and failure of one of them can affect all sorts of things ie power steering, etc. Good luck

If i were you i would ring round & get it booked in elsewhere sooner... when my alt went, from battery light coming on, it was less than a full day before the power steering & all other electrics failed altogether making it very difficult to drive.

well no one can fit the car in this week. So, maybe i will have a go at fitting it my self at the weekend. If it gets me back up to brum. Where is the best place to get a cheap alternator from? Is the fitting an easy diy job?
