why thank you! Wallpaper strippers definately help!!

room was like a sauna! looking good now - rub it down with sandpaper to get rid of any little bits of old wallpaper still stuck on then should be ready for the painting!!!

How easy is it to put up coving? anyone know?

I'm a decorator, coving is reasonably easy, just make sure you get a special coving mitre to cut corners at correct angle, it's not just 45 degrees, it needs to be curved in profile. The mitre comes with instructions, i use one that's like a plastic v-shape. You can use an ordinary mitre block, but you have to make sure the coving is seated in it correctly.
Paper faced polystyrene is easier to put up than paper faced plaster. Personally I think it looks just as good. A lot of people sneer at it, but its the plain polystyrene that looks rubbish.
You can use panel pins to hold coving in place while adhesive drys. You can use special coving adhesive which acts as a filler too, or just use no more nails, and fill gaps with caulk. Have fun!
