Vehicle : Mk1 renault scenic... I know I know but it drives

    Trim : Basic

    Engine : 1.6 16v

    Year : 2003

Default Car won't start after head gasket change

    Car is a 54 plate vectra c v6 cdti.
changed headgasket an replaced all belts etc.

Checked the timing marks an double checked. Now it cranks at full speed but not firing a sprayed a some carb cleaner in whilst cranking an it trys to fire but then cuts out.

I think it's fuel related. Could someone tell me which way round fuel lines are connected at filter? And also any ideas as to what it could be for not starting

    No fault codes showing either.

I know people say the newer diesel engines are self bleeding , but try filling the filter housing up with diesel , I had the same problem once after taking the lines off , hopefully could be something simple ?

i have just had problems with my injectors and have been told by the AA and RAC that the metal fuel pipes that go from the carage to the injectors can only be used once and if removed they should be replaced. also look out for air bubbles coming from round the top of the injectors it may well be a seal thats gone on them. but as for the fuel pump it is said to be a high pressure pump and shouldnt need bleading.
    hope this helps

can you take of any of the injector pipes and turn the car over to see if any fuel is coming out? just a thought.

yeah i thought that before mate, some of the electrics etc are in the way.

th car has only got 10 or so litres of fuel in some gonna stick another few litres in and also make sure the fuel filter s full, then ill give blast at cracking the injectors.

just wanted to no if i had a hand primer as that way i would no for certain i had fuel up to high pressure side or not as the case maybe.

will get out and get me hands dirty tomorrow morning.

    hopefully its something simple.

You may want to try and crack the injector pipes (nuts at injectors) open and get a mate to crank the car over. When you see diesel dribbling you know the system is free of air. You tight the nuts up again and you're ready to go.
