Default Drivers front window not sealing properly (pics)

Ok, so when I first bought the car I noticed there was wind noise coming from somewhere, I've never really searched for the source properly but I knew it was coming from the drivers window/door somewhere as I could feel the air getting through.

Anyway, today I was fitting my front wind deflectors when I noticed this (gap between seal and edge of window)

It's obviously what's causing the leak, but what is causing this?

I've noticed a potent "clunk" sometimes when the window is would fully down, any suggestions?

Window seal looks fine, the window isn't actually meeting the seal at that point though, look at the gap

    Default

The mechanism and third arm are riveted to the inner door skin , if you take the door panel off , check that the riveted joints are ok , and then check the mechanism is not kapput.
