    Default Fiat Panda

Thinking about changing the wifes car and have been looking at the Fiat Panda. You can get a new one for under five grand, or top spec year old ones for around £4500.

Anybody had any experience of these cars??

(I'm aware of the reputation of Fiat dealers)

My wife has a 54 Punto Active Sport, 1.2 8 valve engine, which is the same as the Panda.

So far, we've had the clutch replaced under warranty and that's it. It's on 15000 miles, apart from servicing it's only been at the dealer for the exhaust to be rehung and the rear suspension bushes to be lubricated as they were squeaking! Every time I've been to the dealers any problem has been dealt with quickly and efficiently. Other than that, not a peep out of it. It's nippy, spacious, economical, well specced, quite fun to drive and looks the bizzo. Also, it's not out of its depth on the motorway, it just buzzes along chasing the more powerfull stuff! I know it's not a Panda, but perhaps something worth considering. As they've been relaced by the 'Grande Punto' I'll bet there's some deals to be had on new or nearly new.

I don't think you can go too far wrong with small Fiats. They have so much more character than a Corsa or Fiesta.

As for Fiat dealers, they can teach VX a thing or two about customer service.

    Had a quick look on a Fiat forum, a 24'000m service for a 1.2 is £240

Cam belt needs changing at 3 years or 36'000m.

I think te Fiesta wil be staying with us after all.
