    Default Getting EGR off!?!

Hi Guys,In the process of taking the egr off (07 150 cdti) the 2x 10mm bolts on the right have snapped! The 2x 10mm nuts on the left (holding the black engine cover bracket) are just spinning! Any help or suggestions guys? Tempted to put the 13mm bolts back and leave it until i either get a problem or get a garage quote for cleaning it? (or anyone on here local to give a hand?) I cleaned the boost sensor the other day and it made a diff so thought id clean the egr aswell!

Its just the nuts spinning Dave, the bolt/threads not moving? Any harm if i just put it back together with the 2 snapped bolts missing? Spose it should be ok, poss excuse to have it "mapped" out altogether?
Also will the 2 remaining bolts hold the egr on ok on there own?

Sounds like the bolts have split. They can be loose but that is usually at the point when they are about to fall out of the EGR valve body.

The bolts may have stripped in the manifold though.

i see what you mean the nuts holding the bracket are spinning right??
and you are undoing them not doing them up?? (i know silly but member you looking at them backwords as in the spanner should be going towords the passenger wing not towords driver wing)
and id say the two bolts should hold it on as i dont think theres that much pressire or any on the erg. but even if it do come off id say it will only stall the car or limp mode it home dont know tho as i never hear anyone try or it happen to them and yes good way of saying to misses wel i need new bla bla £100 then new bla bla fitting and what not so i could get remap for £££ and never worry agen about it

but id say it be fine with the 2 bolts mate bad luck and all id say id pop up and take it off but i cant retap the threads as i allways **** them up but ill try and help

Not all the time, depends how bad they are. They are notorious for it in this engine if you're not careful.

idont see how a bolt splits i really dont get that how do a bolt split??

rev do it all back up and live with it till you can remap it or get someone to retap and refit erg as i dont think theres much more you could do no matter what it will need retaping so is it cheaper for remap or retap and refit is what you need to find out mate as id say people will say you need new manifold as to get most cash out of you unless you can get garage to just retap and refit
