    Default Rain sensor gel replacement

Following on from my post about rain sensors, the Windscreen has the bracket already in place, but it seems apparent that it still needs the silicone gel pad on the sensor which then makes contact with the screen in order for it to work correctly.

I have no idea if the one I have bought already has this in place, so would like to find out if I can either buy a replacement, or if there is an alternative solution should I find myself without one?

    Cheers
    Aidi

If Aidi bought the rainsensor from DasArab

Then it looks like a prefacelift rainsensor (theres no light sensor in that)

    That is not completely true..

I have had to changed my windscreen twice because og stonechips. And both times the Gel had come as a replacement part with the new windscreen. But Im a not sure you can get it fom VX.. Try the windscreen replacement compagny.

I called this place on Thursday. Nothing specifically for the Vx rain sensor or the Renault salads which uses the same design. They even said that if I bought one and trimmed to the required size, chances are it would not work correctly. Can't see how much difference there can be in silicone myself, but they claim to be the experts.

This was the only website which I could find doing this sort of stuff.

As mentioned, I think I'll ask Autoglass. They must have been in he position where they have damaged the gel in he past on various cars and been able to replace. I am sure we would have heard complaints from others if his was not the case.

Aidi, even the circuit board is the same, the internal program (code) may be different. This already happen in tranman's parking pilot. He bought one from saab which are in exactly same circuit board as vx's, but no joy to pair to vx cars. So i think a joy would be pop in a scrappy, and find a same sensor case, and swap your circuit board to make it work.
