    Default Shock Absorber desperation!!!!

    Hi All,

    Currently Lying under my vectra and there is no way for love nor money, can I get the drivers side rear shock absorber back up into the wheel arch! its IMPOSSIBLE!!

    Im beginning to lose my temper with the ****** thing!

    Has anyone done this job and is there a knack to it?

    Help is much appreciated!!

    Right ..so youv'e jacked her up and removed the old i take it.Simply feed the new shocker into the arch locating the bottom fitting,and offer up to the top mount..then lower the jack so she seats into the hole inside boot.

    thats my problem, I cant get the shock up into the area where it sits, I can't get it past the bolt hole if you know what i mean?

    Silly question then,firstly have you bought the correct shock absorber for your motor.

    if you have the car on a stand(s), use a jack under the rear hub/disk (protect with a sponge or piece of wood).. then jack it up compressing the spring and thereby allowing you to raise the shock up to the top mount..

    if I have the wrong end of the stick let me know...

    It's not a new shock absorber - its the same one that I took out.

    The hub is no longer attached as I had to change it - had a large crack in it - caused by a very strategically placed rock!

    I've tried jacking it back in, but it just wont budge.
