    Default Wheel bearing?

I have a droning noise when I get to about 60MPH, once I get up faster it goes away, if it is below I just get tyre noise.

I think it is either the start of it, or it has actually gone. Is this a PITA to do?
    And what sort of price?

The wheel bearings are built into the hub so
    You just change the hub
I priced some up on eBay the other week at £108 for two hubs Inc postage

The hardespart is usually removing the hub from the drive shaft spline but if you competent with spanners should take
No more than 2 hours a side

That's a good price. May as well make a weekend of it and upgrade hoses and re paint calipers.

It is on the GSi dean, so its pre face. I think it is the back left, is it worth changing in pairs?

I am doing my front nearside on my facelift 1.9CDTi Estate tomorrow, Easter Sun, weather permitting.

As the car has done 67k, I will be combining it with a pad/disk change so will be repeating some of the work on the other side. A pre inspection shows probably less than a further 10k on the brake pads so doing it early while having the brakes apart anyway will save some hassle later.

There are "how to's" for the brakes but I couldn't find one for the bearing so I am happy to put one together if anyone is interested although images could be a problem with the uploader being disabled.

Ginge - are you referring to the front bearings or rear?
