Default 2.2 dti torque vs cdti

ok lads haven had the 2.2 dti for a month now, it seems this car is keeping up with other 130bhp model of cars from what i can tell, but should there be alot of low down torque? now i find driving this car that the gear ratios are pretty long and its just a steady pull, i dont get a huge slap of torque. i feel driving this car i always need to be in that lower gear to get the pull to keep up.

Driving my mates car the 1.9 cdti 120bhp the difference is noticable straight away, it feels like his tyres want to spin in first and you get a huge slap of torque, but there a 6 speed and i presume shoter ratios which inturn increase torque.

but is it just the nature of the 2.2dti, his 3rd feels like my 2nd etc.

You need to get a box on it mate, then you'll feel the torque

both comments help lads, i was thinking about a box in the future. so maybe ive just been expecting to much torque, dont get me wrong theres a nice steady pull, an seems to be getting better as the weeks go by, maybe because the car never got drove properly before, and also with all the cleaning on egine parts etc. have to say am loving the car.

I find this engine at its best between 4500 and 5000rpm lol
In all honesty...this engine LOVES to rev high, the CDTI's don't...don't be afraid to use the rev counter

Most power comes between 2500 and 3500rpm

2.2dti has the same peak torque 206lb.ft as the 1.9(120)
but whatever - 2.2dti is considerably quicker for the "in gear" acceleration timings

    30-50mph in 4th gear: -
    • 7.0 seconds (2.2dti)
    • 7.8 seconds (1.9-120PS)

*note these timings did change slightly for different model years

it's because the maximum torque is available 500rpm lower for the 2.2dti engine, compared to the 1.9-120ps

thats excatly where i get mine from, i thought i should be getting it lower, but it really does love to rev, im afraid this car never got a proper rev before as my sister owend it for 2 years, seems to be getting slightly better all the time.
