    Default Fuel Gauge problem?

I've got a couple of questions regarding my fuel gauge!

First of all, I notice that the last 1/4 of a tank drops away in no time at all, so when it gets to 1/4 its time to think about where to fill up, even before it hits the red.

When it does get in the red, its not long before I start getting some misfiring, presumably due to poor fuel-flow. I know its still got about a gallon in the tank though.

Is this a design fault, a dodgy sender unit, or does it need calibrating?

What model/year have you got? There is an issue with the fuel gauges/instrument programming on certain years. I'll dig out the Field Remedy in the meantime.

2005 (like last month), petrol 2.2 direct.

Its (obviously) still under warranty, so I could drop it back at the dealer for fixing if necessary, and if possible.

I've noticed the sudden fall off in the last half of the tank.. I took it a s if it was like the old ford orions, Which had an odd shaped tank. The fuel guage never budged from full for the first 200 miles, then once past half a tank, fell like a stone. OR is it my heavy right foot. 60 litres = 280 miles!!( if I'm a good lad)

Nope, I just assumed that 1/4 tank would safely get me about 50 miles or so. In fact that's pushing it!

What worries me is when it starts misfiring, just like I'm running out of fuel (and yes, I do know exactly what that feels like ), although I reckon ther e must still be at least 1.5 gallons in the tank.

Lloydy, have a look at this PDF. I know it only says it relates to Signum but it may be that the Vec C's are affected with a similar problem. Although I couldn't find any fuel gauge issues for the Vec C.

Maybe talk to your dealer about it.

Cheers Duncan, I think I'll have a word with them, like you suggest.
