    Default Air Con

    Hi guys,

was wondering if anyone has got some handy tips here.

My aircon blows normal cool air, but defo not cold. In yesterdays weather it kept blowing full blast for a 30min journey and it was still hot in the car.

So dropped by Kwickfit for a regas and he said that there is more to it as it doesnt seem to kick in the compressor. Apparently the revs would go up if it does.
I noticed that I had some cold air coming out at some point last week, but now it gets really hot it wont work ;o(

Can anyone give mee hinters on what to look for?
How can I check the gas levels in there?
I am trying to avoid to get the whol thing replaced if you guys had somee expereince with plug becoming undone or similar.

Where about is the A/C unit in the engine compartment?

    Thanks

    A
Not looking forward to a sweaty drive home ....

Condensers are the favourite to go on the Vec, mine has just been in for a suspected failure only to be told it had no gas. Mine also does not lose and revs when engaging, there is a very quiet soft clunk noise when it kicks in but the revs do not alter, nor can i hear a 'whoosh' noise like most.

So might be the condenser ol boy.

No he didnt, he offered to recharge it but didnt think that this would solve it. So therefore I wasnt willing to pay the £50 ....

I am happy to do it though, if I would know that this would solve the problem .....
But he said he cant here the compressor kicking in ....

Right, just like most of them the guy in Kwik Fit is a bafoon

The compressor won't engage if there is low pressure/no gas in the system.

He should have tried regassing it before declaring the compressor was faulty

Get Kwik Fit to regas it anyway - if it doesn't solve the problem you get your money back.

right, booked it in for tomorrow morning at 8.30 with another quickfit.
And that hopefully puts my fear away of doing a 5h journey friday morning to the lake district without having the windows open and being deaf after that!

Would they refund even if there is a hole in the piping system or would there machine flag this up once plugged in?
