Default Anyone else been in this position

I was in the mis-fortunate position of being with a bunch of potential clients and a few different company representatives etc over a lunch t'other day,,,, I had to decide if I wanted to tell this tale or not as you will read,,,,

Naturally the conversation de-graded to "what you drive" and "what you earn" kind of one-up-manship, but quite a few of them were wealthy Pharmacists, others Sales managers etc so this lot really should know better!

Anyhoo they mostly know the position I am in so when money came up they were crowing about company increases being so slight so I reminded them, that they "had" jobs I was self employed try doing that with a massive mortgage and it focuses the mind on being productive

nuff said, bunch of overpaid prat's,,,,,,

Then, heh heh heh,,,, cars came up,,,,,

Says one (who has a 318d M-Sport BMW) says directly to me, "but why choose a Vectra? they are so,,,, so,, common?"

All the eye's fell on me and silence ensued as most know me of old as a real Petrol head

Simple I say, I have driven over a hundred on rent and know a good one from a bad one, by buying it at 2 years old I saved 60% off the new price and still got 2 years warranty from the deal and thirdly,,,,,,,, (wait for it!!!!!)

If I wanted Common!! I would have bought a 3 series as every jumped up **** in the world has one of these or an A4! In sales the Vectra / now Insignia is more exclusive than both and generally not driven by flash suited eejit's, but don't take my word for it,,,,, have a read of Top gear magazine,,,, what is it you drive by the way???? (Ahhhh ha ha ha ha I was peeing myself along with a good few of them)

I know I used Topgear as a quote but I had to and if I could have taken a picture of the faces in the group it was priceless,,,,,
Final nail in the coffin one of the Pharmacists I was with piped in yeh I still have my Vectra Estate I use it instead of,,,, the CLS500!! daily

    Wah wah wah wahhhhhhhhhhhh

Nice! Well thought out in the moment!

Didn't the BMW 3-series out sell the Ford Mondeo for the first time ever about 8 years ago?? Kinda shows the trend really.

I even sat in a 5 series (one just before current) which I always thought of was stunning,.. thin interior however, is shockingly poor and reeks of early 90's blandness. Even the owner was not impressed with the BMW. 3 series even worse,.. more toys and better design inside on a go-kart

BMW's have always been really basic as standard. If you wanted all the toys you'd pay quarter as much again!

    Quick thinking there though.

nearly every b.m.w. i have seen ,, has looked drab in side ..

grey interior trims , black plastics ,, bland , bland , bland .

do you have to pay extra for a bit of colour or faux chrome / silver inside a beamer ?

I was a part of that for many years it is amazing how anal people get, they de-badge a 318d to pretend it is a 320/325d etc it still goes on I know Vectra's are not as exclusive as some cars and the badge is seen as low rent but I am very content and once I clear off the loan on it I will be ecstatic!!!!
