Default Shudder at just above 30 mph

Noticed a shudder when I drive over 30mph, I thought it was a wheel out of balance, so got them checked out at a reputable garage. This guy gets his equipment calibrated every month or so, so I know the wheels are spot on.

It seems like it is coming from the rear end and any speed over 70 mphit feels like driving down a dirt track, there is also a droning noise which I cannot figure out the source.

    Any ideas ?

No, the steering wheel is fine, no judder or shaking at all.

To best describe it I can feel the shudder through the seat, like the whole back end is wobbling.

    Hi,

I had the droning noise on my Signum. It was caused by both the rear tyres wearing on the inner edge. It's a problem others have had as well.

    Hope this helps!

get the wheel bearings checked out..they would give you the drone..

a shudder through the car, could be dampers again..an old favorite..

other than that, it's down to checking suspension bushes..

Are the tryes wearing evenly?? not got a flatspot on them??

Since the car is 18 months old, I'm not too sure what the warranty aspect would be.

The car was ex vauxhall lease and supplied new by the same dealer I got it from, so I will just give them a hard time and they can sort it out.

I will book it into the VX dealer on Monday.

The rear tyres do look worn on the outer and inner edges, but the centre part has loads of tread, mabye they were under inflated and not checked by the previous owner, being on lease to a company, probably not checked regularly.

    Thanks guys

Just a thought, the rear end vibration, judder etc only really got worse after I put air in the tyres.

When I checked them 1 was 28psi the other 29psi, so I inflated them both to 33psi.

What is the correct pressure for 215/50/17 tyres?
