Default Not sure how to describe this one

I only got my car last Friday, 05 plate 1.9 CDTI 150 SRI, 21k on the clock and since it is my first diesel I not too sure if it is running right.

When I turn on the ignition and start the car it idles at about 800 rpm and the it sort of drops like it is going to cut out and returns to 800 rpm. To best describe it against a petrol engine, it feels like it is missing, like a dodgy spark plug.
I know there is no spark plugs in a diesel, but that is the best way I can describe it.

The other problem is when it gets to 2000 rpm an the turbo kicks in, it kicks in and when the engine gets to 2500 it drops and then kicks in again. I can feel the drop in acceleration and then it picks up, all this happens quite quickly, but the acceleration is not as smooth as I think it should be.

As I said befoe I am not used to diesels, but mine does sound pretty loud and knocky when at idle.

Any ideas on this senario ?

    Thanks

PS Stuck another problem on suspension thread, having a bad day I reckon LOL

Ok, been to dealers, they hooked it up to the computer and called me 3 hours later to say i could pick it up.

This was on Friday, so went nowhere Saturday and decided to go for a drive yesterday....... Ahhh I am now averaging 60 miles to a quarter tank of diesel ? This has been mostly motorway driving and not booting it.

They seem to have sorted out the eratic idling and turbo problem, but the fuel consumption has gone mad.

Any ideas on the problem or just straight back to the dealers?
