    how do i find out what arb's my vecky has?... its a 53 2.2dti ls 5 dr hatch.

    iv got a bit of a noisy ride and want to sort it..

    also is there a saab alternative to fitting the vx cos i hear the saab stuff is tougher and lasts longer.

    There's no Saab alternative, and the Saab parts don't last longer (if they fit the Vec, then they're shared parts anyway, rather than fitted just to Saabs). There's one example of an aftermarket part, made for Saab 9-3s, being better than the GM OEM part fitted to the Vec and the 9-3, and that's a droplink, rather than an ARB.

    As for which ARB you have, there's no reliable way of knowing except seeing what part number is on your existing ARB bushes.

    The part no is printed on the side of the ARB bush. If the bushes are the originals then the driver's side one should be facing the correct way to read the number. Even if you can only read the last 2 or 3 numbers that should be enough

    You might as well change the drop links whilst you have the car jacked up and the wheel off.

    My local garage changed my arbs but I did the drop links after the arb change didn't sort out the knocking.

    You'd have the bottoms of the drop links disconnected anyway
