Poor starting, glow plugs ?

My car seems to struggle a little bit when you start it for the first time in the day, rest of the day its fine

Could it be glow plugs that are knackered ?

Me too. My 1.9cdti 150 '07 plate vectra seems to take a few seconds of turning over before it fires up. I'd be interested to hear anyones opinion?

mines starting to be a little difficult on cold start, 1 pre-heat & it sputters into life but if i pre-heat twice is starts fine everytime, my glowplugs were changed reciently so i don't know if its them or not.

Take them all out and hook them up to the battery and see if they glow?

Only for 3 seconds and no more as the tip will burn out, You can test for resistence while still in the head but the above removal gives a clear picture if there working.

You can replace just one at a time but then the other will fail and so on.

im sure they dine use the plugs until it gets down to 6º?

i never wait for mine(2.2 dti), i just turn it over and it starts like a petrol anyway.

infact the lad i got it off told me it didnt have glowplugs cos it was a direct injection engine hahahahaha..

when mine were failing i had the car and spanner light come on and it would go out after a few mins, the car never struggled to start but i changed them all and the light doesnt come on now.
