Thread: my vectra estate 1.9 cdti 150 blue smoke after driving 6-10 miles

    confused my vectra estate 1.9 cdti 150 blue smoke after driving 6-10 miles

    can anyone help my 2004 vectra estate 1.9 cdti 150 kicks out alot of blue smoke after driving for 6-10 miles the i have to stop and just let the engine tick over and it stops smoking then i carry on my journey then again after 6-10 miles it starts smoking again
    i have had the inlet manifold stripped cleand & desooted same again with the egr valve & a new turbo fitted but the smoking is still there can any one help as im now getting to the point where i will end up srapping the car

    When your old turbo went did you clean out the intercooler? You could be burning the old oil that was in the intercooler.

    Oil in exhaust it will burn off when it gets hot.

    Are the breathers clean?

    Does sound like a build up that is being burned off, you have replaced everything that would usually contribute to smoke (providing the rings are not passing oil that it is) so it really should clear in time.
    Are we talking misty blue or the full James Bond smoke screen here?

    the full James Bond smoke screen here mate we cant see any thin behind us when it starts smoking

    i have had a new exhaust fitted as well mate so i no its not oil in there

    yes mate the intercooler was cleand out and all the intercooler pipes

    I have the 150 diesel engine in my Zafira and we have an awful lot of blue smoke that stinks to high heaven when the Diesel Particulate Filter starts its cleaning process. The smoke is very bad when accelarating however it is all but invisible when idling or cruising. As I understand it this is entirley normal process for the exhaust with the DPF and you have to keep driving until the process has finished.

    hi how long does it take for it to clear as the smoke is that bad i dont want to get stopped by the police
