Jrt's are cracking little dogs, although they can be a bit snappy... i keep akita's & have done for most of my life, i bought a Parson Terrier (a true Jack Russel) for one of my daughters when she was 5.
A good bit of no! & a tap on the nose when he became snappy was enough to turn him into a great pet.

As with any dog check the mother and father for temperment and condition.
Jack Russells can be very loyal dogs and sometimes will only take to once person in the family. Not sure I would mix them with kids tho as they can have a very nasty side if prevoked. Ideal to use as a rat hunter as the terrier instinct in very strong in this breed.

I would say not ideal as pets for kids but then I have seen a lot of nastry JR's

Now theres a dog ideal for kids, a Patterdale Terrier. They love kids and will happy play all day long and in the evening go out and kill anything that moves.

    We love ours!

Along with our Border Collie. Fantastic dog as long as they get a good walk everyday and not left too long on their own. so easy to train, almost train themselves!

my daughter has had hers for 8 years now & he's a cracking dog tbh... people say keep Akita's away from families too but i have had them most of my life, with children around... it's all about training & everyone respecting & knowing what they are capable of.
At the end of the day a potential owner should learn as much as they can about the breed in order to choose which is best for them imo.

Totally agree with all your points. I tend to find that JR's can have a nasty streak, more so than any other dogs I have come across. Get a good one tho and its a super dog. They are ideally suited as hunting dogs and are at home killing small furry things and bringing them to you as prezzies thats if you can get the kill off them! Used to think the ones my grandparents had were ace
