cdc 40 upgrade now no a/c?

Firstly can i say hello to everyone!!,

i brought a vectra two weeks ago and have been looking through this site and found it very very useful thankyou.

Now i have a problem i have searched but cant see anything..... i have upgraded my cd 30 mp3 stereo to the cd40 opera stereo (wow what an improvment in sound) it was a straight swap with the wires everything perfect, But now when i switch on a/c it doesnt seem to get cold but when its switched off it feels like the a/c is on a little by that i mean not mega cold but colder than just normal blow fan if i make sense? i have thought that it maybe the fact that the cd 40 stereo came from a car that had climate control where as mine hasnt? So i was just wondering if anybody heard of this b4? Oh btw i know the gas in a/c is ok i had it filled when bought the car 2 weeks ago

hi m8 and welcome to the site

i very doubtfull that with you changing the head unit wont affect the a/c,not heard that before
its probably just coincidence that its gone faulty at the same time,check if the
a/c pump kicks in when you press the switch as these pumps can just pack in at anytime

it probably more likely needs re gassing or youve got a leak somewere in the
system but as youve mentioned you had it done few weeks ago hmmm

just check it over incase youve knocked sumfin during the head unit change
over or failing that think its a visit to the dealers or a garage that can
check the a/c for you.

Hi there,

Do you still get the amber light on the A/C button? if not then it sounds as though you may have disturbed the loom connection possibly shorted and fused something so back track and try to find the problem that way.

My air con took exactly two weeks to stop working once re-gassed! Once the gas is gone the air through vents does appear warmer than with it switched off. You've got a leak in the system bud.

thankyou very much guys. ill check i havent disturbed anything. but im wondering if its a leak is that down to kwik fit who re gassed it? amber light does come on yes btw

update on the situation...... just been out pressed the a/c and heard a click from front of car but still warm air coming out the fans blow colder without the a/c on

Its definetly leaking probably due to lack of use through the winter, if you dont use it regularly the gas doesnt circulate and the seals dont lubricate and dry up causing it to leak thats why only 2 weeks later and its not working properly. You need a UV leak test done on it to trace where the leak is and go from there.

It could even be a hole in a pipe or the condensor caused by road debri.
