2.2 dti loud turbo

hi folks i bought a 2.2 dti sri on an 02 plate that has a loud tubo whistle. any ideas fellas

The 2.2 DTi's are quite loud as standard. Has it got louder recently?

Is it a whistle or a hiss. The DTi's are known for splitting the top intercooler hoses. Take the plastic cover off and have some one rev the engine up and down to see if it's coming from one of the hoses. Give en a squeeze as well.

On an unrelated matter... The vacuum pipes are prone to degrade so always worth replacing them with silicone ones. Click on the DTI link in my signature.

The ebay link in your sig is out of date, do you remember who the seller was?

how did the old pipes come off just pull or did they need a bit of help, fairy liquid or something? Did the new pipes need fairy liquid to help get them on?

Just want to be clear before I attempt it, got to do egr again so will do it at the same time

Here is the eBay link.

They are pretty easy to pull off. Just give a slight twist as you pull. Putting on is easy as well. I didn't need any lubricant.

If you are doing the EGR again then you might as well give the boost sensor a clean as well.

Have you checked the intercooler hoses for splits?

Thanks, I'll order some up, nothing especially wrong just had a couple of fault codes. Hopefully pipes and a clean will sort it out
