Default Best way to de Chrome a Faclift Front V Grille ?

I have removed my front v grill (vec Facelift 06) for colour coding. I have been given a quote of 50 quid to colour match it to my car if its primered.

I need to remove the chrome but im unsure as to the best way to do this. Was going to start with wire wool but thought I should ask here first.

Had a look in the how to's but could not find a match.

Any help would be much appreciated

    Cheers

There's a white plastic underneath so I'd use some delicate sandpaper.

You might find you need something pretty rough to give you a good key for the primer. I used some very rough sand paper, then used a plastic primer to give the final primer something to hold onto. Flattened with wet & dry, then a final few coats of primer before the colour and then the lacquer.
