    Default BSR OPTIFLOW help needed

    hi guys

well i had the bsr optiflow fitted for a week with no problems. but then i was getting engine light on throwing up a code. the code was saying low mass air flow?? so i put the old k and n filter back on and no problems so its not the MAF sensor. Just wondered if anyone could help because i really want to put it back on the sound was amazing lol

    cheers

Cone filters can strangle the 2.0T especially if it's been tuned. Several people have had the same problem. Best bet is stick with the standard air box, K&N and drill a few extra holes in the bottom of the air box for more flow (and more sound).

did you take any pics of how you had it fitted...? how close was the cone filter to the MAF, did use the standard MAF pipe or a bigger bore one supplied with the optiflow kit? I had no MAF problems on my engine when i ran with one of these Optiflow kits, i just got annoyed with the sound so went back to my modded airbox.

yes i used all the pipes with the kit. the cone was actually resting on the wheel arch as the heat shield supplied was slightly the wrong postion. yeh i got some pictures

I can't see any probs with that setup mate and I very much doubt it will strangle the air as your getting more surface area and no airbox restrictions

Did you actually get the codes read what did they say

the faults with those would normally be something like low voltage on the MAF sensor rather than low air flow, can you confirm that..

From looking at your pics i would say that you have run the wire to the MAF over the top of the intake pipe when its best to be underneath it. The reason its best underneath as it then does not pull on the wires going into the MAF sensor so much.. You could test this with your current set up by pulling the wires to the side which can create a dodgey connection in the sensor and see if you get an error but MAF sensors are not cheap..

try it, you've got nothing to lose mate.. let us know how it goes..

did you try running the wire to the MAF under the intake pipe like i advised rather than over the top of it..? P0102 Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Low Input, I have managed to recreate this fault by having the wires at too much of angle into the MAF sensor, therefore putting pressure on the connections causing a connectivity problem which give the P0102 error.

right no havent fitted it yet as if the light comes on i would have to take it to the garage to get re set. becuase of the postion of the pipe supplied by bsr i think the maf sensor wire has to run over the top because of the angle?
