    Default Cycle Carriers

I am looking to buy a Cycle carrier

It needs to carry 3 bikes

Has anyone on here fitted one?

What type is best for the Vectra Hatchback?

    Cheers

Thule are the best make. If you have a towball they do a 3 cycle carrier thats mounts on to your tow ball.

If not then its Thule Roof bars and then Thule cycle carriers

I've got a boot mouted one, used it on my hyundai coupe and vectra saloon, now have a vec hatch, so don't need it as can fit the bike in the boot.

Dont' get a cheap one, i originally got one for £20 from toys are us and one the straps went as i was doing 70mph down a dual carriage way, that was a change of underwear moment.

This is the one i have, if your near dunstable you can have mine for £40, i still have the instructions

Really the boot mount ones are only for lighter bikes or kids ones..... As gdansk said, they often break with adult bikes, even the good ones....

Have to disagree! Taking the wheels off does make a big difference, but even so between me and my dad we have probably covered 30000+ miles with bikes on the back of cars at very high speeds and never had issues.

Make sure the rack has side straps!

As said if you can take the wheels off it will help alot.

    thanks for the replies chaps,
Dont have a tow bar or roof bars so will need the type that straps onto the back end. Tbh they look flimsy, dont want to scratch the car.

I used to have a carrier on the back of my car and one bike was ok but a second would obscure the number plate.

If I were you I'd look at getting them on the roof, it's far easier and their out of the way - as long as you don't visit height limited car parks.

ive got a towbar and theys a guy near me makes them,he put me a bracket on my towbar and two poles go either side of the actual towball you just tighten the two screws then put your bikes on,its fab coz it takes less than 2 mins to put on and it means i can still tow my caravan with the bike rack and bikes on the car.it was only £30 or £35
