Default Symptoms of a Broken Spring

Heard a loud bang as I got in the car this morning.

If it was a spring snapping what are the symptoms and what is the driveability of the car like?

    Thanks.

You need to have a look under the front wheel arches and see if the spring is broken first. Can be Dangerous, if the broken spring goes through the tyre.

Could have just been the hand brake. Sometimes they make this type of noise when they are not applied tight enough.

    UPDATE:
Front passenger spring was snapped, had the front two replaced for £170.10 including tracking at Kwik Fit.

Whats peoples opinion on the price I paid, I thought it was reasonable (ish)?

    Vauxhall quoted me £360.00

You can't directly compare the Kwik Fit price with the Vauxhall dealer's as they don't use the same quality of spring. The Kwik Fit price should be compared with ATS or other high street chains.

What he said. Kwik Fit will have used pattern parts from a local motor factor etc. which are a lot cheaper thant he GM springs. The £360 you were quoted from the dealer though is a reasonable price when using GM components as the spring costs are mega.
