    Default Courtesy light

    Hi guys

a couple of days ago i installed footwell lights in the vec and theyve worked great until tonight when ive opened the doors and niether the interior lights or the footwell lights came on although if i press the button on the roof they both come on... CONFUSED.COM

Is there a fuse for the courtesy lighting that might have blown?

    cheers mike

If it is a fuse, then you should check fuse F12 in the end of the dash...

but I feel is more likely the switch inside the door, to say it is open.
If it was the fuse, the light would not work no matter how you try to turn it on...

Only other reason, is that the door was not already closed properly..
the interior light will time-out after five minutes...and turn itself off.

turn on the ignition and see if the red car emblem pops up and shows the door as open...
both with the door open and closed.

One other thought.. do you have the four button panel for the courtesy lights (with map lights).

If so, then there is an over-ride switch to turn the lights off.

Where did you wire them too? The roof light or rear fuse box?

I would say, check to see if you have a loose wire in the light unit...where you connected the footwell lights to.

Hmm, the fuses for the interior light is normall F12 (overload fuse), but I have already mentioned that on..

Other fuses in this area are..
F7 or F9 (can never remember which)
    F12
    F17 and F19

I normally quote F1, F10 and F26, but these are not relevant in this case (infotainment and CIM).

I would suggest a dodgey connection in the interior light unit.

If the unit lit up when moving it about, then I would suggest that you have a loose wire to your light unit..

The only way to check, is to waggle test each wire in turn.

Should be a wire with grey (door control circuit), or
grey/yellow or grey/green for interior lighting circuit.

okay all sorted now i found out it was actually the circuit board that was loose... some how i had managed to snap one of the tiny plastic clips that holds it in place and it wasnt contacting properly so i have glued it down for now. how ever i dont like bodge jobs so itll be a trip to the scrapies for me.

thanks for all your help robsey
