Default AutoExpress Driver Power survey - Insignia 6th Overall!

And 4th in class - interesting reading.

Beats some much more expensive machinery too.

Astra Mk6 was 11th overall, 3rd in class (0.09%) behind the Golf.

Vectra C and Astra H models were in bottom half of table, so vaux/opel must be doing something right.

That is a surprise for me really. Because, I've met four ex-Insignia owners who had nothing but trouble with their cars, but then again I've met other Insignia owners who are perfectly happy with their cars.

One neighbour has a 60 reg SRI Nav CDTI 160 with the VXR package, 20-inch alloys, LED running lights and tinted windows. It's a sexy car, right up the moment he starts the engine...

He is happy with the car, though.

To be fair theyre not 'Skoda' anymore are they,.. bargain quality VW cars. But then,.. I'd not have one as I don't think VW are cheap or reliable.

I know it's a cliche but some of the results these power surveys produce are skewed by the owners expectations. For example according to the link the Skoda Octavia is the 4th best performance car in the UK leaving for dead apparently the Mazda RX8 which is in 12th position.

The Ford S Max is the 17th best performance car while the Mini Cooper S is lumped into 27th place. Yeah right.

When it comes to handling the Skoda Yeti romps home as the 4th best you can buy, 9 places ahead of a VW Golf and the Insignia is 27 places up the order from a Mazda 6. *******.

VX were always held back in these surveys by the dealerships where I think the results are much more relevant and more like for like. I don't know if the dealers were included in the survey but if they were that is an impressive overall result for the Insignia and for VX in general.

The rest of it is sandal salvation army types voting 10/10 for their Honda Jazz because it didn't kill them when they drove to a tree hugging event in the local forest.

I think that improving the reliability of the diesel engines in the Insignia, compared to troublesome 1.9's in the Vectra, would by itself account for the higher reliability score for the Insignia.
